All three madrasahs (in the old days in the east so called schools) turned their portals to the center of the area and create a harmonious ensemble composition. And each building is distinguished by its unique decor - pattern filigree stone carvings adorning the walls and portals. Blue dome of madrassas are made of brick, and outside lined with glazed tiles, which shines in the sun, from whatever side it may shine.
Yet no one indifferent to the elegance of precious mosaics of Ulugbek madrassah, turquoise domes and lofty minarets Sher-Dor, gold-painted patterned walls Tilla-Kari. Registan Square has long been a commercial and social center of Samarkand. Here heralds declared will of the khan.
